Make Art Everyday

Art has an amazing way of bringing people together. I was fortunate to be part of an event this weekend called Dish Market. It was put on by a group of ceramic artists called Cone Pack. I was invited as a guest artist, and the event was held at a local bagel shop, Bernbaum's in Fargo, North Dakota. It was a whirlwind of a day with 9 ceramic artists participating.
My head and heart are filled with the meaning making that comes will all the hard work of being an artist. Being part of a community of artists and being part of a community that supports local artists is where its at! The event brought me back to my college days of hanging out in the studio with my fellow artists and friends and making art.
What does this all mean to me? I am a teacher, mom, wife...but I am also an artist. It has taken me years to find my aesthetic and my place in art making. And, while I am no where close to where I want to be, my journey has been filled with amazing people and artists that I have met and continue to meet that support me. My favorite comment is that my ceramic pieces are "so happy". And, you know what? They come from my happiness. They come from me. That smile you see when I say thank you for supporting local artists is written all over my art in colorful designs and patterns.
I am so grateful to live a life imbedded in the arts. I am thankful for a community that supports local artists, and mostly, I am thankful for all who have supported me. I am truly happy.
